As I mentioned on Alex’s Caring Bridge site (www.caringbridge.org/visit/alexward) we have some videos to share. We wanted to show you how much progress he has made in the last 6 months.
The first video is of him taking his first steps (from early December).
This next one is from early February when we was really starting to walk on his own.
We got the camera out tonight before Alex went to bed and we were able to get a couple of videos. The next one is him playing with a car. He picks it up and plays with it for a minute and then he drops it. He picks it up again and "drives it" on the floor while bending over. This shows how his balance is getting better by being able to go up and down like that. At the end he does fall.....which shows that he is still unstable at times.
This last one shows Alex "running" around. He was trying to get Cory to keep chasing him. As I watch this video over and over I can see that his gait is far from normal. I see that his right foot turns in/over and that his right leg lags behind the left. From a therapy standpoint there is much to work on. Looking at it through "mommy eyes" is a little different. I see my baby boy having fun and playing with his daddy. I see him laughing and having fun. I see that he is close to running. I see that even though Alex might do things a little different, he is doing them and he will continue to do them. God is Good!!
I hope you enjoyed watching these videos. I know posting four is a lot for one post but I wanted to brag a little and I figure that seeing it is way better than anything I could say about it!!

Whine, Whine, Whine
For those of you that don’t know, Cory travels occasionally for work. This week is one of those weeks. He left Sunday afternoon and will be home later tonight. Life with three kids is always interesting when dad’s not in town. I guess I need to say that Cory is a very involved dad so the kids really miss him when he is gone.
Some weeks things are good until about the half way point then it starts to fall apart. During those weeks, I am usually losing my mind by that point as well. This week really has been great (well other than the fact that I am still behind on laundry but I guess that will never end). The kids have been a little hyper but nothing to terribly crazy.
Well, this afternoon the whining started and it didn’t stop. All three of them had one thing or another to whine about. Hayden didn’t want to pick up his toys. Hayley was mad because we couldn’t find the toy she wanted to take to the bathtub. Alex was mad because he wanted to go outside and also because he wanted to take a bath and because he didn’t want to get out of the bath and well….I guess I could go on and on!
Thankfully, baths are done and everyone is in bed now so I can relax (& fold clothes) and wait for Cory to get home! I really am thankful that this week went so well. One night of whining is much better than two days! And honestly, everyone went to bed well, so that helps a bunch too!

Getting Started
I decided a while ago to start a blog but never did it. The title says it all…..I have been keeping up with my kiddos or at least trying to! They do keep me pretty busy but they really are so fun to be around. I guess you could say that I am still figuring out how to handle it all. God shows me something new all the time and I pray that He molds me into the wife and mother He wants me to be.
I don’t really have a plan for this blog yet. I just want to document funny stories and special events in our lives to be able to look back and remember them better. But I also want to share with our friends and family and I hope you enjoy reading.
